Maintenance

In Illinois a spouse who earns more income or has more assets may be ordered to pay the other party maintenance, or what is also commonly referred to as alimony. The amount of maintenance is determined by a variety of factors including an analysis of each party’s net income, their ages, their education, their lifestyles and the length of the marriage as of the date a dissolution of marriage is filed.
